Does LingoLock actually block apps on iPhone?

Yes. LingoLock uses Apple's Screen Time API for real OS-level app blocking. Your apps stay locked until you complete a vocabulary lesson — there are no workarounds.

How is LingoLock different from Duolingo?

LingoLock blocks your apps until you practice, making language learning unavoidable rather than optional. It combines real iOS app blocking with vocabulary lessons so you learn a language every time you reach for your phone.

Which languages does LingoLock support?

LingoLock currently supports Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese, and more. New languages are added regularly.

How much screen time do I earn per lesson?

Each completed vocabulary lesson earns you 5 minutes of access to your blocked app. Complete multiple lessons to earn more time.

Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using LingoLock ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and LingoLock ("we", "us", or "our").

These Terms apply to the LingoLock iOS application only. They do not apply to any third-party apps you choose to block using LingoLock's features.

How LingoLock Works

LingoLock uses Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls and ManagedSettings APIs) to temporarily restrict access to apps you select. Access is restored after you complete a short vocabulary lesson within LingoLock. You are responsible for selecting which apps to block and for completing lessons to regain access.

We make no guarantee that app blocking will be impenetrable or that it will prevent all access to restricted apps in every circumstance. Screen Time limitations are enforced by Apple's operating system, and their availability or behavior may change without notice in future iOS versions.

Eligibility

LingoLock is suitable for all ages, including children aged 4 and up. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian should review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. By using the app, you (or your parent/guardian) represent that you agree to these Terms. LingoLock is intended for use on devices you own or control.

Free Tier and Subscriptions

Free tier

LingoLock offers a free tier with limited functionality: you may block one app and access A1-level starter content in one language.

LingoLock Pro

LingoLock Pro is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription purchased through the Apple App Store. Pro unlocks: unlimited app blocking, all supported languages, all proficiency levels (A1–B2), and advanced lesson content.

Billing and renewal

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID via Apple's App Store. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage and cancel your subscription in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not issue refunds ourselves.

Price changes

We may change subscription pricing at any time. Apple will notify you of any price changes before renewal, and you may cancel if you do not agree to the new price.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
Attempt to circumvent, hack, or reverse-engineer the App or its blocking mechanisms
Use the App to block apps on a device you do not own or have permission to manage
Interfere with the App's Screen Time integration in ways that violate Apple's developer guidelines
Resell, license, or sublicense access to the App

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, lesson content, audio recordings, and all other materials, is owned by LingoLock and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on your personal device in accordance with these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY REGARDING THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY LESSON CONTENT.

LANGUAGE LEARNING RESULTS VARY BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT USE OF LINGOLOCK WILL RESULT IN FLUENCY OR ANY PARTICULAR LEVEL OF LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LINGOLOCK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOST PROFITS, OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM APP BLOCKING BEHAVIOR.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We'll notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, via an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
